How can California lead in the development of a sustainable, equitable cannabis and hemp industry?
Our research team was comprised of five researchers from four universities. This project re-imagines innovation in the CHI by engaging numerous stakeholders in the transformation of ownership and control. Inspired by scalable, competitive agricultural models (such as Organic Valley and Blue Diamond cooperatives), this project seeks to transform CHI and adjacent agrifoods systems via long-term stakeholder engagement and fieldwork. The goal of this project incorporates the diversity of local and regional initiatives and develops a supportive scaffolding (we see this as a patchwork quilt approach whereby we coproduce the system through individual and collective opportunities that stitch together, forming a cohesive whole.)
