KEITH TAYLOR, DIRECTOR
Prior to joining U.C. Davis, Keith was a Research Associate at Indiana University’s Ostrom Workshop. Keith holds a Ph.D. in Human and Community Development and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Illinois and is a graduate of Lake Land Community College. Previously, he has worked as a Legislative Aide for a Member of Congress, consulted in business strategy, economic and international development, and engaged in board governance and facilitation around strategic planning. Keith lives in Davis, California with his family and enjoys weight-lifting to metal and hip-hop (he hopes you’re listening to RTJ!)
Alex Volzer is a Ph.D. Geography student and small business owner working on economic justice through the development of a democratic and sustainable economy in both praxis and theory. They study political, social, and economic processes and outcomes that improve the Social Determinants of Health while helping rural communities implement “local redundancies” to become more self-reliant in the face of climate change. The last three years they have been doing community economic development research in Lake County, CA in collaboration with the UC Davis Center for Regional Change. Other projects they contribute to at the UC Davis CED lab include research on rural electric cooperatives, limited equity housing cooperatives, and the development of theory on cooperative governance systems and the democratization of regional economies. Olivia Henry is a community development master’s student at UC Davis. She researches collective ownership and governance of journalism organizations through the News Co-op Study Group. She is also a consultant for the Listening Post Collective, where she supports community information projects in California’s Central Valley. In the past, Olivia has served as the engagement editor for the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism and engagement manager for KALW Public Radio, where she launched crowdsourced reporting project Hey Area. Mikaela Fenton is a fourth year Community and Regional Development student. Her primary interest is affordable housing. In addition to her research, Mikaela participated in the UC Davis Housing and Urbanism study abroad program in Barcelona and has interned at Enterprise Community Partners and Jamboree Housing Corporation.
